  • San Diego, CA (1888PressRelease) May 18, 2014 - Ola Grimsby, Founder of Ola Grimsby Institute Consortium, has been selected as an Honored Member of the National Association of Distinguished Professionals. The selection recognizes Ola Grimsby's commitment to excellence in Education.

    Ola Grimsby, who holds a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Norway, and a Doctor of Manual Therapy Degree from The Ola Grimsby Institute Consortium through the Department of Education in the State of Utah, began his career in healthcare as a specialist in orthopedic rehabilitation and sports medicine in the early 1970's. His first clinic was established in Kristiansand, Norway, where he also was appointed an instructor for the Norwegian National Program for Manual Therapy Education. In 1975, he was named the first executive member of the International Federation of Orthopedic Manual Therapy representing Norway. In addition to teaching and clinical work he was elected chair for the Norwegian National Association's Manual Therapy Association in 1979 and chair of the Nordic Group of Specialists in Manual Therapy in 1983.

    Currently retired, Dr. Grimsby is now an active consultant and proprietor of the Ola Grimsby Institute Consortium Inc. in San Diego, Seattle, and Salt Lake City. They have educational programs offering post-secondary physical therapy programs, an academic progression from entry level physical therapy to a PhD. It is Dr. Grimsby's responsibility to assist the company's CEO, CAO, and CFO in daily tasks, in addition to guest lecture at programs in Europe, Asia, Africa, and throughout the US. He also illustrates graphic anatomy slides, authors textbooks, and trains new instructors in pedagogy.

    "I am known mainly for coordinating and interacting multi-disciplinary curricular components and creating an evidence base for our academic programs," Dr. Grimsby said. "I also have some expertise in clinical patient care and clinical education."

    Dr. Grimsby is engaged in forming an international, academic accreditation for post-secondary residency and fellowship programs under the International Accrediting Commission of Physical Therapy Residencies. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Therapy and the American Physical Therapy Association. He also serves as director of Physical Therapy Associates, Inc., as chairman of the board for The International Accrediting Commission for Physical Therapy Residencies, Inc., and is on the board of directors for the International Multi-disciplinary Association of Manual Medicine. He has also authored textbooks, numerous chapters to books, and articles in national and international publications in several languages since 1978 and is the recipient of numerous national and international awards.
