  • Middlesex-Somerset-Hunterdon, NJ (1888PressRelease) December 17, 2011 - With the addition of 50 new members, the ranks of NAIOP New Jersey, the commercial real estate development association, have reached an all-time high of 578. The chapter's membership has also grown by more than seven percent since the beginning of 2011. Through its link to NAIOP corporate, the New Jersey chapter provides a direct connection to more than 18,000 members in North America.

"It is great to see the continued growth of this organization," said Michael McGuinness, chief executive officer. "This is especially true at a time when commercial real estate professionals have multiple options for investing in their own careers and the industry."

"This chapter's recent growth has been broad-based," said George Sowa of Brandywine Realty Trust, current president of NAIOP New Jersey. "We are seeing corporate memberships increase and solid growth from the Developing Leaders program and student memberships. Growth from the latter groups bodes well for the long term.

"This continued growth speaks volumes of the commitment of our membership and the quality of the staff," said Sowa. "People understand the important benefits of joining NAIOP New Jersey from the standpoint of advocacy and networking."

State-mandated Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are another important benefit. They are now required by New Jersey for licensed real estate salespeople and brokers and awarded to eligible attendees of approved NAIOP New Jersey events. "We see that as a catalyst for people to join and attend meetings," said Sowa. "With CEUs required for the first time, NAIOP New Jersey provides the venues, with timely and topical subjects. It is a nice nexus between members' goals and what this organization can provide."
