  • Salinas, CA (1888PressRelease) August 23, 2012 - For more than 17 years, Montrio Bistro located at 414 Calle Principal in Monterey has celebrated the heritage and craftsmanship of the local purveyor. From seed to fork, Montrio's ingredients have always changed with the season -- as nature intended. Montrio and Chef Baker are proud to continue that focus with even more emphasis on the delicious and seasonal ingredients that come from our local farmers, ranchers and fishermen.

Montrio Bistro has watered down its carbon footprint and is adding new seasonal libations to its menu. Montrio's sophisticated water filtration system ensures that every customer can enjoy complimentary, great tasting still or sparkling water as part of the dining experience. The same system filters water for the ice machines, coffee machines and the bar for better tasting drinks. In staying with the resource-saving theme, Montrio is also using recycled wine bottles to serve the filtered water.

In addition, Montrio Bistro celebrates that art of the cocktail with "signature cocktails" as well as their take on the "classics". Montrio uses fresh, local fruits, herbs, and vegetables, (yes vegetables!) in its cocktails and makes many of its own mixes, syrups, and purees. All of the infusions are created in house and the restaurant even makes its own maraschino cherries!

"We believe our bar menu is the most eclectic, imaginative, taste-bud satisfying cocktail menu on the entire peninsula," said Montrio Bistro mixologist Anthony Vitacca. "Our bar inventory includes classic spirits such as Chartruese, Absinthe, Old Tom Gin, Batavia Arrack, Kina's, Chinato's and Amer Picon. We have a beautiful collection of American single barrel and Scottish single malt whiskeys including Willett Pot Still RSV, Four Roses Mariage, Noah's Mill, Kentucky Vintage 17 yr. and Dalmore Gran Reserva.

Our motto is "Cocktails with attitude, served with a smile." Vitacca has just added to the already-extensive drink menu with 4 tasty new libations:
    • DEVIL'S DILEMMA - Jameson's, Jelinek Fernet, Cocchi Americano, celery bitters, ginger-peppercorn syrup
    • NO KA OI - Ron Zacapa 23 rum, Cherry Herring, Regan's orange bitters, pineapple gomme, ginger beer, lemon
    • OPERA - Juniper gin, Bonal Gentiane-Quina, Luxardo Maraschino, Regan's orange bitters
    • MESCAL MULA-Guava infused Del Maguey Chichicapa mescal, Fee's peach bitters, fresh cucumber, fresh lime, ginger beer
