  • (1888PressRelease) September 30, 2010 - Madrid - Mobilizy competed against the four other 2010 regional grand prize winners - Cypress Solutions (North America), Eterno Infotech (India), UYMobile (South America), and Visioglobe® (APAC) - in the second overall Global LBS Challenge CHAMPION competition. Mobilizy presented its winning application, Wikitude Drive, to a panel of 12 ESNC judges and advanced as the winner.

"This award confirms once again that we have created a unique navigation product that has the potential to revolutionize pedestrian as well as in-car navigation industry. Wikitude Drive is changing an 8,000-year history of map-reading by augmenting route directions directly onto the real road," says Philipp Breuss-Schneeweis, founder of Mobilizy.

Wikitude Drive is the world's first fully functional mobile AR navigation system with global coverage. It is a light-weight navigation system that uses Augmented Reality to draw turn-by-turn driving instructions directly onto the live-video screen of your Android phone. Wikitude Drive is scheduled to launch in October 2010.

Wikitude Drive has two key advantages over conventional navigation systems: First, due to the overlaying of the route onto the live video stream of the surroundings, the driver can easily recognize and follow the suggested route. Instead of looking at an abstract map you are looking at the real world. The navigation system leads the driver through unfamiliar territory in a natural real and easy way. Secondly, with Wikitude Drive the driver never has to take his eyes off the road. As Wikitude Drive provides you with driving directions on top of the live video stream of your mobile device, you still see what is happening in front of you even when looking at your satnav.

"After a one year development period, it is a great feeling to receive this industry recognition and to see the results of all the hard work. I cannot wait to see this product in the Android market," says Sebastian Höbarth, lead developer of Wikitude Drive.
