  • (1888PressRelease) September 21, 2018 - OptiProERP, providing extensive discrete manufacturing solutions within the SAP Business One HANA platform, announces that Metalcloak and its sister company Backflow Direct have chosen OptiProERP to take their manufacturing into the future.

Metalcloak describe themselves as Game-Changers in the after-market discrete manufacturing of patented suspension technology for 4WD vehicles. Doug Powell, Chief Engineer says, “we are a Systems-Based Company. Our philosophy is to develop systems that work incredibly well together, designing every individual part to function and improve that system.”

Doug Powell drove the selection process for a replacement for their QuickBooks system that had been in use since the company started in 2006, and used in Backflow Direct since it started in 2012. He took the same rigorous approach to this task as he does to designing the systems for Metalcloak and Backflow Direct.

He says the process was elaborate, looking at more than 40 systems. Eventually, they narrowed the possible candidates down to five: Infor CloudSuite, Acumatica, NetSuite, IQMS and OptiProERP. A major difference between Metalcloak and other discrete manufacturing businesses is that they have developed their own branding, marketing and website, selling to both wholesale customers and direct to the public via their website. The same is true of Backflow Direct. This meant they needed an excellent, cost-effective connector between their ERP System and their website. This proved to be a significant differentiator. Connectors to the web for Infor & IQMS were too expensive. NetSuite had a good connector, but only to their own Web tools, which did not meet Metalcloak’s needs. Additionally, Metalcloak were not impressed with NetSuite’s customer reviews.

This left two systems: Acumatica and OptiProERP. Both had great web connection, so the difference came down to technology and people. Doug Powell says they had a lot of features they wanted, and could get everything they wanted from the two finalists -- OptiProERP with SAP Business One and Acumatica. The SAP Business One HANA platform proved to be the winner, there are so many more extensions for SAP Business One HANA, and “out-of-the-box” availability was very important to him.

Metalcloak chose to adopt a cloud environment for their new system. Mr. Powell says, “SAP Business One HANA was clearly faster– for both general responsiveness and reporting, especially in the Cloud.”

Doug noted that they looked at many different providers in the SAP Business One reseller channel, however, “the Sales team from OptiProERP were by far the best communicators – they understood Discrete Manufacturing better than anyone else we spoke to.”
