    Dwolla, a local Des Moines based company, is a smartphone application that allows a consumer to make a payment to a retailer without handing over cash or swiping a card. The consumer connects their bank account to Dwolla, and then you simply enter the company to send money to, and like magic, the money transfers.

With Dwolla, our transactions are devoid of the financial information typically susceptible to identity fraud.     QR codes are also being implemented into marketing campaigns. A QR Code is a barcode-like image that can be scanned by the cameras on smartphones. Once scanned, the user is automatically taken to a website, video, coupon - or anything else on the Internet.

    In addition, text message campaigns and reminders are being used. Text message communication with consumers is becoming more and more popular among companies.
