  • (1888PressRelease) May 04, 2011 - In October of 2008, producer Bridget McGrath had a script she believed in, written by her husband, Vaughn Juares, and Joseph Schneider. "The stock market had crashed in September and it seemed impossible to raise the amount of capital it would take to make a Hollywood film with movie stars attached. Ultimately we decided to move ahead by filming in Minneapolis with a typical independent film budget and casting local Minnesota actors. We took a risk," said McGrath.

"I'm Not Jesus Mommy", which has been called, "Rosemary's Baby for the cloning generation…" is being released on 3 screens simultaneously in Minneapolis starting May
6th, in partnership with film distributor FilmDemic.

The indie film "I'm Not Jesus Mommy", is now scheduled to make a tour throughout the USA until the end of the year ending on the east and west coast simultaneously in early October 2011. A representative for FilmDemic was stated as saying, "Our strategy differs from typical indie film releases by not using only art house theaters". "I'm Not Jesus Mommy" has been picked up by main-stream theaters, in almost two dozen cities, from coast to coast, for a summer release. Summer time is historically reserved for the biggest and most expensive film releases of the year, but this year is going to be different."

"To know that our film will play for audiences in more than 20 cities is a dream come true," the film producer commented about the film's upcoming release. "Wired Magazine recently placed "I'm Not Jesus Mommy" on a list of the 28 most anticipated sci-fi films of the summer, alongside major Hollywood films with Hollywood-sized budgets. I'm truly grateful for response we're getting."

"I'm Not Jesus Mommy" centers around Dr. Kimberly Gabriel, the lead OBGYN for a human cloning project, who is ironically infertile. The cloning project proves to be the only hope for Kimberly to bear child of her own. Desperate to have a baby, Kimberly steals an embryo from the lab and implants it into herself. She carries the child to term and delivers a healthy baby boy, David. Seven years after David's birth, wars, famine and natural disasters of every kind plague the Earth. As Kimberly struggles to survive her biggest challenge is raising her son. Strange occurrences surrounding the young boy are only becoming worse and more mysterious.

"I'm Not Jesus Mommy" tackles controversial and socially fueled topics including human cloning, immigration abuse and the perversion of the world's religions in a brash and intense vision of our planet's last days.

"It's a thought-provoking film and it's proof that good films, made independently, can give theater goers a choice along side studio films and movie stars," stated McGrath.

FilmDemic, the film's theatrical distributor and marketing partner, is also the title sponsor of the Minneapolis-St Paul International Film Festival's (MSPFF) Late Night Film Series. 'I'm Not Jesus Mommy' kicks off it's theatrical run in Minneapolis just one day after the conclusion of the festival. Minneapolis is an ideal place to start the release.

A FilmDemic Representative stated, "The MPAA has given "I'm Not Jesus Mommy" an 'R' rating. Our box office sales are being tracked by IMDB, Box Office Mojo, The Numbers, and The Hollywood Reporter. The film began independently, but now it's on the map and will have a main-stream audience. In the coming months we expect much success."

"Minnesota is home to so many talented film makers. I hope our story serves to say innovative marketing approaches that work in Hollywood can work for independent movies as well if you are willing to take chances," said McGrath.
