  • (1888PressRelease) February 01, 2011 - Jaipuria Institute of Management organized Banking Summit 2011 focused on 'Banking in India: Issues and Challenges', at JIM campus Noida on Saturday i.e January 29, 2011.. The Summit was launched by the top level personalities of the Banking Industry and the academia. The theme of the Event was to promote 'Banking :- Issues and Challenges'. The program was commenced with lightening of the lamp by the inaugural Guest Mr. Sandeep Ghose, Regional Director, RBI, Dr. Anup k Singh, Director of Jaipuria Institute Of Management , and Dr. JD Singh Director General, JIM. The summit successfully provided a one to one interactive platform to MBA students who shared their doubts and fears with renowned Banking industry leaders. The esteemed industry leaders shared their thoughts and experiences with the keen management students.

    The keynote speakers for the inaugural session were Mr. Sandeep Ghose( Regional Director, RBI) , Mr. Ranjan Dhawan (Chief General Manager, PNB, New Delhi) , Mr. R. C. Khurana (General Manager, Bank of India, New Delhi) , Mr. Sunil Pant (Chief General Manager, State Bank of India, New Delhi) , Mr. Rajnish Kataria( Director, National School of Banking Studies and Corporate Management ), Mr. S. C. Sinha,(Executive Director, Oriental bank of Commerce, New Delhi)

    The Session was inaugurated by Mr. Sandeep Ghose, Regional Director, RBI not only shared his professional experience but gave away knowledge nuggets to all present. According to Mr. Ghose, the two challenges that lie in future for the banking sector in India is Human Resources Management and Financial inclusion. The banking sector will have a great shortage of human resources in future as there will be a huge number of retirements within the next 5 years, He asked all the budding managers to "put on their learning hats" and sharpen their reading , writing, speaking and listening skills to gear up for a banking job.

    Dr. JD Singh, D.G. of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida emphasisd that reinforced Mr. Ghose's statement by saying that human resources are no doubt important as it is the only renewable resource but only the right people are assets. He foresees a future where Financial Services Mall will exist where one can just walk into a mall and buy any financial service he or she wants which will demand marketing skills.

    Dr. Anup Kumar Singh, Director of Jaipuria Institute of Management raised the question of local money lenders extracting huge interest rates and on ways to curb them.

    Mr. Ranjan Dhawan, Chief General Manager, PNB, New Delhi talked of the various problems like liquidity, capital adequacy and involved the students in further discussion. Questions were put forward by the audience to the panel and all were answered in the most informative manner.

    Mr. Rajnish Kataria( Director, National School of Banking Studies and Corporate Management ) emphasized on the importance of customer awareness by giving an insight of the awareness among rural and urban citizens from a study conducted in Amritsar, Punjab. He brought into focus the need for ethical activities in this era of customer empowerment.
