  • (1888PressRelease) August 03, 2012 - FREMONT, CA - Two 1GbE and two 10GbE models are being released. Based on Broadcom chipsets, these switches bring high performance, quality, and reliability to the network infrastructure.

The SDN 8290 and SDN 8295 L2/L3 switches are part of iwNetworks' managed switch line. Based on Broadcom's Firebolt 3 chipset, both models feature 48 1GbE ports, 4 10GbE SFP+ uplinks and out-of-band management. The SDN 8290 has one of the lowest entry costs for a product in its class. The SDN 8295 adds dual air flow and load sharing redundant power supplies.

The 10GbE SDN 8780 and SDN 8920 models are for Top-of-Rack (TOR), wiring closets, data center aggregation, or network core deployment. Each has 48 10GbE SFP+ ports and comprehensive management tools. The SDN 8780 is Trident based while the SDN 8920 uses the Trident+ chipset. Uplinks are either through 4 10GbE SFP+ ports (SDN 8780) or through 4 40GbE QSFP+ (SDN 3920).

"We are pleased to bring new levels of price/performance to the network with our SDN Series switches," said Company Vice President Mark Hayfield. "Now network administrators need not sacrifice performance and reliability because of budgetary constraints."
