  • San Luis Obispo-Paso Robles, CA (1888PressRelease) August 26, 2011 - CompTia Breakaway was the event that launched the partnership between Impact Learning Systems and nonprofit Fast Forward. Fast Forward saw a deficiency in the skills of their veteran clients, and Impact saw how they could prepare the veterans with communication skills to help them get hired. Impact's training programs help veterans hone their communication skills so they can apply their technology skills when working with customers.

While attending the conference last fall, Dee Albritton, Fast Forward's Executive Director, and Malcolm Carlaw, Impact Learning Systems President, developed the idea of offering Impact's training programs to Fast Forward's veteran clients.

"There is such a need in our veterans. Technology skills are there and they have had the technology training, but it's been a long time since they have been around people in the business environment." - Dee Albritton

Impact Learning Systems donated 400 training programs to Fast Forward's veteran clients. The online training format makes it possible for veterans to fit in training between VA hospital appointments or when they are out of the area. Every one of Fast Forward's clients that have gone through Impact's training has gotten a job. The training puts them a step above other applicants and makes the difference in getting them hired.

"Fast Forward is committed to helping the men and women who have served our country honorably return to be productive members of our society." - Malcolm Carlaw

"Everyone is working together to make sure our returning veterans have what they need to succeed. We are creating futures." - Dee Albritton

See what one veteran had to say in this video, titled "'Stepping Stone': A Video Presented by the Creating IT Futures Foundation."
