  • Bergen-Passaic, NJ (1888PressRelease) May 16, 2014 - Integrated Business Systems (IBS) this week announced the completion of a code set that enables its property management and accounting software to run transparently on high-performance IntelŪ ItaniumŪ microprocessors. The IBS system - developed over 35 years - today is used by more than 75 prominent New York/New Jersey area commercial and residential real estate owners and operators.

IBS continues to diversify and evolve through upgrades and modifications that enhance the product and its delivery. "The award-winning Itanium chip powers a family of quality, high-end servers," noted Michael Mullin, president of the Totowa, N.J., company. "IBS is now able to run on this powerful, cost-effective equipment, affording tremendous speed and scalability. This has great implications for IBS users on our Cloud-based SaaS platform as well as those whose enterprise servers are premise-based."

IBS will migrate its own back-end servers to Itanium during the coming months, automatically providing advanced processing power to the firm's SaaS clients, which access the IBS system via the Internet. Long-time IBS user Vornado Realty Trust this spring will also start its migration to the Itanium code set on its in-house servers, according to Mullin.

The Itanium compatibility reflects IBS' ongoing effort to leverage technology advancements. In late 2013, the firm released Version 11.0 of its proprietary software which, among other enhancements, takes advantage of Oracle's WebLogic Server 11g to connect the user interface to the database server. This has significantly improved the programming department's ability to write software interfaces between various applications and environments.

Version 11.0 also features more efficient computing capability through Oracle's JRockit, which is touted as the industry's fastest Java virtual machine. Additionally, a new IBS Integration Hub involves a series of web services providing third-party applications the ability to give and get data from the IBS system.

"Much of our ongoing product development responds to our users' evolving requirements," Mullin noted. "Many have been with us since we introduced our first, home-grown platform. And just as IBS has helped them improve their bottom lines by providing computing efficiency and data integrity, they help to guide the progress of our product. Updates like the Itanium code set and Version 11.0 ensure that our system continues to provide the sophistication and scope they have come to expect."

The IBS software - written by real estate professionals - addresses virtually all property management, accounting and construction management tasks. The system is scalable and customizable for private and public enterprises of any size, from just a few IBS users to hundreds of operators. The IBS business model offers truly turnkey solutions, from data conversion, hardware, customized software and installation to extensive on/off-site training, consulting, service and support. Additionally, IBS' Network Services division offers full consulting, design, installation and support services.
