  • Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) May 08, 2012 - The Big Bad Ball, a black-tie fundraiser for the Hospice of Wake County presented by the Capital City Club's Young Executives, announces its 2012 committee chairs and planning members. The eleventh annual gala is scheduled for Saturday, September 29, at 7 PM in the Capital City Club in downtown Raleigh. Guests enjoy music, dancing, open bars, a wide selection of hors d'oeuvres and a late-night breakfast. More than 300 guests attended the 2011 event, raising over $100,000.

"We at Hospice of Wake County are most appreciative of all the volunteers who have been involved with the event over the years and to all who have attended previous balls," said Michael Blanchard, Vice President of Development for Hospice of Wake County. "Their efforts and support have helped make hospice care possible for hundreds of patients who otherwise might have been denied much needed services at the end of life."

Blanchard noted the appreciation comes not only from the staff of hospice but also from the family members of patients. A daughter of one hospice patient wrote, "Hospice was a marvelous experience. Once we discovered all that you do for the patient and family, it made the final days of Mother's life remarkably better. You took so much of the stress off of us and her ending was the way she had wished it would be… at home. You alleviated our grief by helping us to keep her at home and I credit hospice with the peace we feel today." This is just one of the many stories made possible from proceeds generated from this annual event.
