  • Miami, FL (1888PressRelease) January 29, 2015 - "The Women's Breast & Heart Initiative saves lives by connecting at-risk women with the early detection necessary to fight breast cancer and heart disease," said Andrea Ivory, CEO and founder of WBHI. "Heart disease is the leading cause of death in American women. Since our mission is to save women's lives, it was a natural extension to incorporate combating heart disease with our initial charge of fighting breast cancer. Hosting a recipe contest is a great way to connect nutrition with hearth and breast health and bring attention to heart disease, the number 1 cause of death of women in America."

An estimated 420,000 women die each year as a result of heart disease. Statistics show that ninety percent of women have one or more risk factors for heart disease and most are unaware of the threat. Ivory said that arming women with the right education and care should lead to prevention, early detection, and lives saved.
