  • (1888PressRelease) October 09, 2012 - Opening of the conference, Chan-Oong Jeong, CEO of Hankook Delcam, explained the meaning of the slogan, "Innovation – Breaking the Wall”, commenting "In a rapidly changing global competitive environment, innovation is essential for the sustainable growth of all manufacturing companies. Innovation means moving away from existing formal ways of working and the existing stereotypes. I hope you can reconsider your usual way of working and realise the opportunities that can come from continuous innovation.”

Following this theme, Clive Martell, Chief Executive of Delcam, described the 40-year history of innovation within Delcam since demonstrating the first CADCAM system, developed by researchers at Cambridge University, in 1972. He covered the many developments first introduced by his company during that period, including three – ArtCAM, PowerINSPECT and Dental CADCAM – that had been recognised with Queen’s Awards for Innovation.

This next two days of the meeting covered the latest developments across the range of Delcam software for design, modelling for manufacture, machining and inspection, including the Vortex technology for high-efficiency machining and Delcam’s unique MachineDNA technology to produce toolpaths specific to particular machine tools.

New technology was also described from Hankook Delcam, which introduced the Hankook Delcam Automation Solution (HDAS) that enables innovation across the entire manufacturing process. This groundbreaking technology attracted great interest from attendees wishing to improve their productivity by automating their existing processes.

The meeting also featured the awards ceremony for the winners of the Korean section of 1st Global CAM Skill Competition, who have qualified for the World Championships to be held in the United Kingdom early next year. This Competition, which was open to local high school students, college students and graduate students, was held as part of Hankook Delcam’s support for the development of CAM software skills as part of its training programme to meet the needs of the country’s manufacturing industry.
