  • Nashville, TN (1888PressRelease) July 25, 2012 - "I am the engine" (IATE), a grass-roots cycling initiative, invites Middle Tennessee cyclists to "Whole Fuel & Local Pour," a free family event Tuesday, July 31, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Whole Foods Market in Franklin, Tennessee. The event, which features free food, craft beer and group rides for cyclists of all ages and skill levels, is intended to raise public awareness of the health benefits of cycling.

The group ride event celebrates the Jeff Roth Cycling Foundation's recent success of receiving enough signatures to create "Share the Road" license plates in commemoration of Tennessee's 3-foot law. The law, officially known as the Jeff Roth and Brian Brown Bicycle Protection Act of 2007, requires motorists to give cyclists a safe passing zone of three feet.

"These license plates represent a historic accomplishment," said Michael Martin, Marketing Team Leader for Whole Foods Market in Franklin, TN. "We value the safety and health of our communities and our environments. Our IATE partnership exemplifies our commitment to spreading healthy eating and zero emission lifestyles throughout Tennessee."

IATE sponsors are scheduled to provide ride support, food and craft beer at the event. Lightning 100 and Team Green will broadcast the event and provide promotional support, Whole Food Market will supply free healthy snacks, Harpeth Bicycles Racing Team will support the community ride and Nissan North America will supply support vehicles and a Nissan Leaf support car, the official vehicle of IATE. Event attendees can also expect free beer tastings from breweries Yazoo, Black Abbey, Turtle Anarchy and Fat Bottom courtesy of Rhizome Productions.

Visit iamtheengine.org or call IATE at 615-577-2015 to register for the free event. The event begins at 5 p.m. at the Whole Foods Market parking lot in Franklin, with group rides beginning at 6 p.m. ranging from 3 to 25 miles.
