  • (1888PressRelease) September 14, 2011 - CHICAGO/NEW YORK - Terence Cook, MPA, has been promoted to manager of the FMA Institute that offers education and support that non-profit organizations need to effectively lead their organizations and manage their financial resources. The Institute is a professional and training initiative of Fiscal Management Associates, LLC (FMA), a leading national consulting firm to non-profit organizations. The announcement was made by Founder and Managing Director of FMA Hilda H. Polanco.

    As manager of the FMA Institute, his responsibilities include the day-to-day management of programming, as well as in-person and online training services for their New York, Chicago, national and international clients. He will also oversee the Institute's quality and quantity of programming as well as thought leadership from a fiscal perspective in the community. He was formerly a senior consultant r at FMA.

    "Terence's extensive background in non-profit work nationally and abroad makes him the ideal candidate to lead the FMA Institute; our clients have a valuable and insightful resource in him," said Polanco.     Cook has more than 20 years of experience in non-profit management and local government, with a focus on fiscal accountability, governance and evaluation. At FMA, he worked to design and implement fiscal, reporting and oversight systems and processes for non-profit organizations. His past experience includes managing all aspects of the fiscal, I.T. and H.R. functions of a charitable foundation, and his additional consulting experience includes providing services to the United Nations Development Program.

    Cook is also an adjunct professor at Columbia University School of Continuing Education where he lectures on non-profit fiscal management. He also serves as Treasurer of Food of Life/Comida de Vida Food Pantry in Dutchess County, N.Y. He holds a Master of Public Administration from the Robert F. Wagner School at New York University and received a Bachelor of Arts in education from South Bank University in London.
