  • (1888PressRelease) April 08, 2011 - Resurrection carries all the trademarks of a great zombie movie; splatter in abundance, conflicting characters, gory deaths and eye-candy. But what makes Resurrection different from other zombie films?

Firstly it has distinct characters. Jake and Andy admit to honing character voices and nuances to the point where every word and action has come under the microscope. The downside to this? Jake fears there could be tears on set:

"I think we've shot ourselves in the foot as we've spent so much time and love developing our characters, it's going to really hurt watching them get ripped to pieces."

It's also darkly comedic but it's not a comedy zombie film like Shaun of the Dead. Resurrection is pure horror, first and foremost, but it is filled with black humour arising from the eccentric characters and the absurdist situations. It's funny, like the family meal in Texas Chainsaw Massacre was funny.

And uniquely, Resurrection bridges the chasm between fast and slow zombies, a source of considerable debate amongst fans of the genre. Alongside the slow, shambling Romero-esque risen dead, the film contains the fast, hungry and supremely strong dead of 28 Days Later, The Horde and Zack Snyder's remake of Dawn of the Dead.

And it is also utterly terrifying.
