Empowerment Expert Leads Mother-Daughter Retreat

  • Montgomery, AL (1888PressRelease) February 04, 2015 - According to a UCLA study on friendship among women, female bonds have been scientifically proven to ease stress and contribute to longer lives and fewer chronic health conditions. This year's Super Bowl showcased the "like a girl" campaign, battling stereotypes. Building off this "new feminism" movement, Camp Lantern Creek, a summer camp and retreat center in Montgomery Texas, has invited empowerment expert Magen Paster to lead a workshop at the camp's 4th Mother-Daughter retreat from Friday, February 27th to Sunday March 1st.

Says Sunni Markowitz, Lantern Creek owner and director, "We've declared 2015 the year of the Shero (aka female superhero), and Megan is the perfect guest speaker to kick off our pre-summer activities." During the summer, girls learn to change tires and use power tools, build self-confidence, and cooperate with other girls, finding their own "best selves."

At the off-season retreat, daughters and their mothers (and grandmothers and aunts) will enjoy a Friday night campfire with s'mores and singing. Saturday's activities include arts and crafts, canoeing, archery, and a talent show. Sunday will feature a pajama breakfast. Registration is limited to 100 people and can be found at https://lantern.campintouch.com/v2/camper/application/app0.aspx?

Media is welcome to attend all or part of the weekend.
