EIH Merges with Reliance to Develop Goa and Bangalore Hotels
Mr. Oberoi informed that the company is planning to build a 250-room Oberoi hotel that would be a Luxury Hotels in Bangalore and 60 luxury apartments of 6,000 sq ft each alongside.
- (1888PressRelease) August 18, 2011 - EIH Ltd., the owner and operator of Oberoi group of Hotels is planning to merge with India's biggest private sector company, Reliance Industries to develop new properties in India.
On company's 61st annual general meeting EIH chairman, PRS Oberoi said, "We are contemplating to jointly develop the hotels in Bangalore and Goa. We will create joint ventures for the two projects and manage the projects under the Oberoi brand".
The veteran hotelier added, "If Reliance wants to increase its shareholding or want to join the board in the near future, it is welcome". The Oberoi disclose it after the market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) permitted the changes. These changes will make it easier for acquirers to hold a large stake in the company without having to make an open offer.
Mr. Oberoi informed that the company is planning to build a 250-room Oberoi hotel that would be a Luxury Hotels in Bangalore and 60 luxury apartments of 6,000 sq ft each alongside. In addition, they will also be having 130-room hotel Oberoi in Goa. He further added, "We own land in Bangalore, 8.2 acres, across Hebbar Lake, and 55 acres in Goa".
