  • (1888PressRelease) June 01, 2011 - Guests at the Best Western Glendower Hotel Lytham St Annes, took part in a Wii contest in aid of Derian House Children's Hospice over the Easter weekend.

Part of the Glendower Easter Weekend at the family-run hotel, the competition centred around a giant chocolate egg, which is now set to be donated to the Chorley-based charity.

Hotel manager Andrew Haworth said: "We always look at ways to keep guests entertained during their stay at the Glendower. We have a specially designated Wii room next to the gym and our soon to be re-launched Golf Simulator. It's amazing how cross-generational the Wii is, with more mature guests being just as adept these days as the younger ones, and everybody loves a competition.

The original idea was for guests to compete for the egg itself. But when it arrived, it was so big we realised it would be unpractical for some guests to take it away with them, as our customers come from far and wide and many simply would not have the luggage space. So we decided to give away a free weekend break at the Glendower as a prize instead and offer to donate the egg to Derian House, which they have gratefully accepted.

"The competition was immensely popular with guests despite the glorious weather over the weekend and we're looking to organise more charity contests in the future."
