Her talk "She's Still Acting That Way" stems from a personal encounter with domestic violence while Waring was a Master's student at San Diego State University. The presentation focuses on the subtle clues that alterted Waring and her husband, Tom, to the fact that Waring's close friend, "Linda" was in a violent relationship. In addition, the presentation details the courageous risk the Waring's took to intervene in the situation, ensure the abuser's arrest and prosecution, and help "Linda" attain supportive services needing for healing.

    Waring holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting from Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and a Masters of Science in Accounting (MSA) from San Diego State University. She has worked as an accounting professional in the hospitality and biotechnology industries. She maintains memberships in the Professional Accounting Society of America and American Association of University Women. She is married to Tom Waring, an excutive with PricewaterhouseCoopers and lives in New York City with their two small children, Jessica and Tommy. She has presented "She's Still Acting That Way" to over 50 law enforcement agencies, human services organizations, and social justice and womens' rights groups. She works as a Domestic Violence Advocate with Safe Horizon in New York City.
