  • (1888PressRelease) June 15, 2011 - Eton Institute, the region's leading language training center, is hosting a free German cultural evening open to the general public to promote cultural awareness and connect with the German speaking community. The German language, spoken by over 126 million people worldwide is the official language in five countries - Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Luxembourg, each with its own distinct culture.

'Sommergrüße aus Deutschland!' read as 'summer greetings from the German speaking world' which is the theme for the evening, will feature the linguistic culture as well as music with Karaoke sessions and food such as sandwiches, pretzels and the black forest cake which originates from Germany. The evening will also highlight the basics of the German language including its history in a short humorous film. Participants can even test their knowledge of German culture by taking part in a trivia quiz and winning a variety of prizes ranging from discounts on upcoming courses as well as DiscoverME the only German-language magazine in the UAE.

Moaz Khan, Marketing Manager at Eton Institute, commented: "Languages and culture are correlated. You cannot fully understand one without learning the other. The most effective way of learning a language is to immerse yourself in its culture and live the experience. The free cultural evenings that we conduct every month in a featured language bridges the gap between learning a language and experiencing its culture in an authentic setting, which is as good as it can get in Dubai."

Eton Institute's German cultural evening will be held on Sunday, June 19th from 7pm to 9pm at the language studio, a purpose built open resource centre to promote cultural diversity in the UAE, featuring a multimedia library and language learning material from all around the world.

Interested participants are encouraged to book their free places in advance by calling the Institute's toll free number (8003866) or register online at www.eton.ac. Places are limited and are offered on a first-come first-serve basis.
