  • (1888PressRelease) October 25, 2011 - After being involved in the dental markets for many years, in 2010, Delcam introduced its Healthcare Division, which focuses exclusively on the development of software and scanning equipment for the specific needs of the dental and orthotics medical sectors. These solutions are based on over thirty years of expertise and unique technology within the PowerSHAPE reverse engineering software and the PowerMILL CAM system.

With specialised software for the design and manufacture of dental restorations, SEACAM has developed local partnerships with respected and experienced companies within the dental industry. This will allow Delcam’s dental solutions to be presented at the best possible light to all visitors attending the event.

The DentCAD design software and DentMILL machining system were developed to greatly reduce or in some cases eliminate work that normally needs to be done manually, producing better quality restorations, with a better fit on the patient’s mouth for improved comfort as well as being more durable.

Some of the largest dental design and milling centres around the world, such as Simeda and Diadem, have incorporated Delcam solutions into their processes, resulting in significant gains in both quality and productivity.

Some of the advances in the latest version of DentCAD include a support for a wider spectrum of dental restorations, including automated tools for the modelling of inlays and onlays, creating dental bars, custom abutments and pressed crowns, on top of the previous functionality for creating copings, crowns and bridges.

Additional improvements in DentMILL include well-proven algorithms developed in Delcam’s PowerMILL CAM software. Significant reductions in toolpath calculation times, fully automated and optimised toolpath generation, and the knowledge at all times about where the rest material is, all contribute greatly to avoiding waste and promoting significant savings in the materials used.

Because Delcam’s dental solutions are fully open and make use of the standard file formats available within the dental industry, they promote the sharing of dental restoration models scanned and modelled in other dental systems, as well as allowing toolpaths generated in DentMILL to be used by a wide range of CNC milling machines.

"One of the biggest advances in the latest versions presented by Delcam is the focus on ease-of-use with a very user friendly software interface. No prior knowledge of CADCAM is required – the system presents technicians with a very intuitive manner of developing their work more quickly and with higher quality. Our philosophy is always to tailor our solutions to our customers and specific industry sector needs. In contrast, many dental laboratories have made significant investments in other systems which ended up not being used due to the complexity of technology,” claimed Alexandre Magdalon, Sales and Marketing Director at SEACAM.

The new versions will be released during the Congress and presented first hand by our technical partners CUBO, TECNODRILL and KEY Equipmentos.

CUBO – Empresa Especializada em Tecnologias Aplicadas à Odontologia – has developed its own scanner system, XCAD, which is 100% manufactured in Brazil, and marketed together with DentCAD.

TECNODRILL – manufactures specialised machine tools, and scanners; visitors will be able to learn about their technologies and the integration with Delcam's DentCAD and DentMILL software solutions.

KEY Equipamentos – specialising in dental equipment and accessories, markets Delcam’s complete dental solution, including iMetric dental scanner, DentCAD and DentMILL software, operating with Roland CNC dental 4- and 5-axis milling machines.
