  • Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) February 12, 2011 - Commercial real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield, Inc., has brokered a 240,000-square-foot, long-term lease for Americana Activewear, a West Coast distributor of imprintable sportswear, at 11130 Bloomfield Ave. in Santa Fe Springs.

Britt Casey of Cushman & Wakefield's suburban Chicago office in Rosemont, Ill., and Rooney Daschbach and Eric Daschbach of the company's Los Angeles South Bay operation in Long Beach, Calif., represented the tenant in the site search and lease negotiation. John McMillan, Jeff Sanita and Tim Wallace of Cushman & Wakefield's Los Angeles Downtown office served as landlord broker for Alere Property Group, which owns 11130 Bloomfield Ave.

Casey maintains a 15-year working relationship with Americana Activewear. "The company is planning a substantial expansion to accommodate its growing West Coast customer base," Casey said, adding that Americana Activewear currently maintains a 60,000-square-foot distribution center in Gardena, Calif.

"This particular property serves Americana Activewear well because it offers a central location with respect to its regional customer base," added Rooney Daschbach.

"Americana Activewear has a solid customer base that is centered near its current operation," Casey added. "However, the company is positioning for growth in size and stature further north and east. Santa Fe Springs is a reasonable compromise in terms of location. It will enable the company to protect its current business while stretching its reach significantly."

"Bloomfield Business Center is a rare infill Class A cross-dock facility with all the bells and whistles," said John McMillan. "These factors contribute to its reputation as one of the best industrial facilities in Los Angeles County."

Casey noted that the site search spanned two southern California submarkets - Los Angeles South Bay and the Inland Empire. In both cases, Casey worked with Cushman & Wakefield's local, senior industrial brokers, including Rooney Daschbach in South Bay and Phil Lombardo (Ontario, Calif., office) for the Inland Empire.

"Cushman & Wakefield's expertise in both markets allowed me to bring my client out to the West Coast and provide them with 100 percent confidence that they were seeing the best availabilities to suit their needs in each market. We considered about 50 buildings."

The property at 11130 Bloomfield Ave. features easy expressway access, modern accommodations with 30-foot clear ceilings, ample cross-docked loading capabilities and an office fit-out that required only minor modifications for Americana Activewear's needs.
