Control Model 6268 2-Channel Fiber ABC Switch via Pushbutton, Remote Port, and Remote Cable

Top Quote The Model 6268 can be controlled via push-button by holding and releasing for single channel switching or by holding for 1 second for dual-channel switching. The same procedure works for remote contact closure control. End Quote
  • (1888PressRelease) October 19, 2013 - Electro Standards Laboratories, Cranston, RI, announces the Model 6268 dual-channel SC duplex fiber optic A/B/C switch with contact closure remote control. This network switch allows the user the capability of sharing a single port interface device connected to the COMMON port among three other devices connected to the A, B, and C ports for each channel. The Model 6268 can be controlled via three methods: front panel push-button, dry contact logic via the remote port, or via a remote cable.

The front panel push-buttons allow the switch position to be changed. Depressing and releasing the push-button for a position allows the user to switch that channel to that position. Pressing and holding a push-button for 1 second will switch all channels to that position.

For remote control closure control, a transition to open contacts across a common pin and a position pin of the DB9 connector causes the channel for that contact to switch to the position for that contact, but only if the contact was not held closed for a gang operation for 1 second or more. Holding a contact closed for 1 second will switch both channels to that position.

    The switch was designed in a slim rackmount configuration. The dimensions are 19" W x 1.75" H x 10" D (48.3 x 4.9 x 25.4 cm). The weight is approximately 5.7 lbs (2.6 kg).

The standard power module supplied with the unit is UL approved and supports 100VAC/240VAC, 50Hz/60Hz. This wall-mount power module supplies 12VDC, 500mA to the switch. The module features a 2-prong, US, non-polarized plug.

This switch is ideally suited for international applications with its optional Wide Range Power Module, Catalog No. 517277. This module is CE, RoHS and UL listed and is configured in a wall-mount design. It supports 100VAC/240VAC, 50Hz/60Hz and has an IEC 60320 C14 inlet.

The switch ports are transparent to all data. The port connectors include: (8) SC duplex connectors labeled A, B, C and COMMON for each of the two channels. The front panel controls include (6) manual pushbuttons, (3) for each channel, that allow local switching. The front panel display includes (6) LED's for switch position and power status. For remote control (1) DB9 female connector on the rear panel accepts contact closure switch commands.

Its MEMS-based mirror/prism technology supports Gagabit data rates. The Model 6268 features independent control of each channel with gang controls. The switch maintains position on power loss and continues to pass data. Front panel LED's display the present position and power status. All A, B, C and COM ports are SC duplex, multimode, 50/125 micron, and support a wavelength of 850nm.

A detailed specification sheet including a Network Transfer Application diagram is available for download on the company website. To speak to a knowledgeable sales engineer to discuss product or applications, call 401-943-1164 or email eslab ( @ ) electrostandards dot com.
