  • (1888PressRelease) September 08, 2011 - BRISBANE, Calif. - CollabNet®, the leader in Agile development in the Cloud, announced today that the Project Management Institute (PMI) has approved CollabNet's application to become a PMI Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.), effective August 2011. More information about CollabNet's Agile course offerings is available at http://www.danube.com/training/scrumtrainingschedule.

PMI R.E.P.s are educational organizations that have demonstrated that they are capable of providing world-class effective project management training. By leveraging PMI's rigorous quality criteria for course content, instructor qualification, and instructional design, R.E.P.s provide the project management training necessary to earn and to maintain Project Management Professional (PMP)®, Program Management Professional (PgMP) ®, and other PMI professional credentials.

As the world's leading provider of Agile training and consulting, CollabNet has helped thousands of organizations successfully adopt and scale Agile. All Agile classes are delivered by Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainers. They include public and private Scrum certification courses, live Agile webinars, and a new Web-based Agile tutorial and lecture series called "The Agile Essentials Series." CollabNet conducts regularly scheduled public and private Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) and Certified Product Owner (CPO) courses in major markets throughout North America and Europe. These courses satisfy the Scrum Alliance requirements toward ScrumMaster Certification or Product Owner Certification. Each provides 14 PMI PDUs and a two-year membership to the Scrum Alliance.

"CollabNet's PMI-approved Scrum and Agile training is the first step for organizations that desire to reach Agile enterprise scalability," said Tony Farinaro, senior vice president, services, CollabNet. "CollabNet's Agile Transformation Strategy (more information available at http://www.open.collab.net/consulting/agile/) follows a path we have identified through our work with the thousands of organizations we have helped transition to Agile practices. Working onsite with a large cross-section of industries and organizations, CollabNet's Agile trainers and coaches have observed patterns in the way organizations adopt Agile tools and development processes. More importantly, they have identified critical phases most companies traverse in moving toward Agility, from individual teams to the entire enterprise."

"PMI's recent survey of training providers shows that 80 percent of organizations seeking suppliers of project management training strongly prefer to work with PMI R.E.P.s. They view their affiliation with PMI, as the leading standard-setting professional association for project management, as a stamp of quality on the training services they purchase," said Edwin Andrews, Ph.D., director, academic and educational programs and services, PMI. "Organizations want to protect their investment in project management training, and they know that a PMI R.E.P. delivers such training in a cost-effective and efficient manner."

Currently, there are more than 1,400 R.E.P.s in more than 70 countries. These organizations include commercial training providers that design complete educational systems, academic institutions, internal training offices at corporations, and government agencies.
