Cloud Computing Companies Urged to Tackle Security Fears in the Workplace

  • (1888PressRelease) October 12, 2011 - Concerns over Internet bandwidth and online security are the two biggest fears that suppliers of cloud based work solutions should be addressing now, according to a new study released this October.

Produced collaboratively by business training provider REDTRAY and benchmarking organisation Towards Maturity, the new study collates the thoughts, opinions and intentions of over 180 Learning and Development professionals across the UK.

When asked about the barriers and complexities that prevent them adopting cloud based technology in the workplace, over half (52%) of L&D, HR and training professionals anticipated problems resulting from bandwidth issues and just under half (49%) cited potential security threats as the "major" barriers most likely to deter the cloud's roll-out across the workplace.

"The facts, figures and evidence that underpin the case for the cloud may no longer be disputed within the industry, but the clear signal that this study sends out to suppliers is that more proof of the cloud's technical competence still needs to be communicated across the wider workplace," says Managing Director at REDTRAY Vicky Jones. "Whether perceived or real, our industry needs to respond to these technical concerns louder and clearer."

A "previous bad experience" or "lack of managerial level support" were the two least likely factors to be cited as barriers to cloud roll-out across the company.

The new detail on barriers to cloud roll-out is just one of dozens of fresh facts, figures, statistics and insights released this month in the 'Harnessing Live Online Learning' study. To download the full report click www.cloud4training.com
