  • Fresno, CA (1888PressRelease) March 27, 2012 - The Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) will host its Second Annual "Evening Among Stars" on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. for parents, caregivers and children to meet the CARD team, tour the center and experience a performance from clients and staff. The event will be held at the CARD Fresno office, located at 4928 East Clinton Way, Suite 105, Fresno, CA, 93727. Light refreshments will be served and an information booth will be available. The event is CARD's opportunity to celebrate Autism Awareness Month, educate families on all available options and allow children to express themselves. Therapists and professionals will be on site to answer any questions and all are encouraged to participate.

"CARD is one of the world's largest organizations successfully treating individuals with autism spectrum disorders using state-of-the-art therapy and stresses that recovery is possible," says Managing Supervisor Sarah Cho.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in every 110 children in America is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder, making autism more prevalent than pediatric cancer, juvenile diabetes and childhood AIDS combined. Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder that is marked by the presence of impaired social interaction and communication and a restricted repertoire of activities and interests.

"I'm very eager to be a part of this exciting event. It is important to raise awareness of autism and educate parents on different treatment services. The talent show will also be a great opportunity for children and staff to come together and enjoy themselves," says Office Manager Patty Cappelluti.
