  • (1888PressRelease) January 21, 2011 - Monroe, CT - Combustion Components Associates [CCA; Monroe, CT], a leader in designing, manufacturing, and installing combustion optimization and NOx reduction equipment and technologies, announced the receipt of air pollution control orders in the U.S. and Europe totaling over $6M.

Two orders are for selective non-catalytic reduction [SNCR] applications in the United States. The largest order is at a chemical facility firing a variety of liquid and gaseous waste fuels. The scope of supply includes CFD modeling, SNCR design and fabrication, integrated controls and ammonia slip monitoring. The second SNCR award is for a demonstration project on a biomass fired CFB boiler where CCA will also provide design engineering services and hardware to resolve selective catalytic reduction [SCR] catalyst fouling.

Two additional orders are for SCR systems for diesel engines located at a hospital and a new bio-fuels production facility. The systems use non-toxic urea injected into the engine exhaust to reduce NOx emissions across a catalyst by up to 90%. Both systems will use CCA's TRIM-NOX PLC controlled injection system and patented airless injector.

The remaining orders are for new burners, burner modifications, and combustion tempering. New multi-fuel and waste heat burners will be supplied for a boiler providing process steam at a new plant. A package burner will be designed for firing gaseous and liquid biofuels and #2 fuel oil. New burners and controls will be supplied to convert a dryer to propane. Finally, a burner/combustion optimization order covers burner modifications and combustion tempering for a T-fired steam boiler at a European chemical plant.

Making the announcement, R. Gifford Broderick, CCA President, stated, "These orders reflect our ability to provide customized, flexible and low-cost solutions in various markets around the world. We are extremely pleased that a diverse customer base across industries has selected CCA as a key supplier."
