  • Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) December 18, 2010 - Sherry L. Nelson, PMP, Manager of Commissioning and Qualification Projects for Vantage Consulting Group, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Sherry L. Nelson's commitment to excellence in Engineering and Consulting.

Nelson, who holds a BS in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Business Management from North Carolina State University, began in her career after learning of validation consulting firms in the industry and being intrigued by the field.

Currently, Nelson's company does consulting to pharmaceutical and biotech companies to assist them in meeting FDA regulations. They test equipment, utilities, computer systems and processes to ensure that they meet the client needs and FDA regulations. Nelson manages all the validation and commissioning projects that come out of their office, which includes the southeast corner of the United States. She manages the budget, timeline, resources, clients and anywhere from five to fifteen projects at a time, with budgets ranging from a few thousand dollars to a few hundred thousand dollars. "I am a high energy, people person," she said about herself in regard to her attitude in the workforce. "I have the opportunity to meet many people and learn a variety of ways of doing things in a short period of time through consulting."

A certified project management professional since 2009, Nelson prides herself on being able to streamline her project management skills. She noted that she also gained a lot of experience through her professional engineering sorority, Alpha Omega Epsilon, while in college. She was on the executive board, chaired numerous committees, and was involved in planning events and projects, while helping lead others become successful. "I have always been very driven and a fast learner," she said. "I do not feel good about the work I do unless my clients are not only satisfied, but happy to the point where they ask for me by name for the next project. This is always a victory for both myself and my company."

Hoping to continue down the same path, Nelson would like to become a full-time manager of projects. In the meantime, she will continue to provide the quality work performance that she is accustomed to.

Nelson is a member of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering and was recently named treasurer for the PDA for the 2011 and 2012 term for the southeast chapter. In her free time, Sherry enjoys spending time with her family, scrapbooking and watching ACC football and basketball.
