  • Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN-WI (1888PressRelease) February 15, 2011 - Nicole E. Weis, Radiation Oncology Clinic Manager for the University of Minnesota Physicians (UMPhysicians), has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Nicole E. Weis's commitment to excellence in Healthcare.

Weis, who holds a BA in Biology from the College of St. Benedict, followed by a BAS in Radiation Therapy from the University of Minnesota and an MA in Health and Human Service Administration from St. Mary's University, began working as a radiation therapist in 2005 immediately after attaining her radiation therapy degree.

After completing her master's degree, Weis applied for her current position in November, 2010, and has since been working hard to carry out all of the responsibilities of a department manager. She manages clinic performance to improve quality of direct patient contact and also helps to improve patient, employee and provider satisfaction. She holds weekly meetings with the medical director and other supervisors, directly manages employees, and is responsible for the staffing, hiring, promoting, completing performance reviews and training of new staff. She also develops and implements policies and procedures and monitors the staff to ensure they are following these policies and procedures. Weis is currently involved in the implementation of a new EMR, Epicare, within her department.

Weis is actively involved in the planning of the department at the new children's hospital being built at the University of Minnesota Medical Center and will take on the role of clinic manager of the radiation therapy department at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Hospital when it opens in March of this year, as well as the department at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. "I believe that I have a good understanding of the day to day happenings in the clinic, due to my personal experience," she said. "When I was promoted to radiation therapy supervisor, I was able to gain knowledge of the business side of healthcare. In my current role, I can pull my experience from both clinical and business in my everyday job duties."

Knowing how important it is to stay abreast of her ever-changing field, Weis's career will always have her learning new things, constantly challenging herself. Hoping to be a great manager and see where her next role takes her, she is confident that the work ethic her parents instilled in her will enable her to continue to do great things in her field.

A member of American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, American Society of Radiologic Technologists and Society of Radiation Oncology Administrators, Weis was named one of the top fifty performers at UMPhysicians in 2010. In her free time, Nicole volunteers with the Angel Foundation, a camp for children who have lost a family member to cancer. She also enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her family.
