Hellman, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes David M. Hellman's commitment to excellence in Law.

    Hellman, who holds a BS in Political Science and a JD, both from the University of California, began practicing law in 1972 for Cooper, White and Cooper in San Francisco. While in school prior to practicing law, he spent several years working for his parents accounting firm. As an attorney, he also taught courses at Lincoln Law School in Federal Income, Estate and Gift Taxation and Legal Accounting.

    Since July 1977, Hellman has maintained his own firm, counseling clients in estate planning, taxation, probate, business and real estate matters. He prepares tax returns for clients and represents them before the IRS in audit matters and before the U.S. Tax Court. Since 1984, he has been the sole owner and President of Marin County Exchange Corporation, which acts as a qualified intermediary for Internal Revenue Code section 1031 tax-deferred exchanges, primarily for real estate.

    "My initial inspiration to become an attorney was from a desire to help clients achieve the best possible result pertinent to their situation," Hellman explained. "I enjoy solving difficult problems and take pride in having the knowledge with which to achieve an optimal result."

    With intentions of continuing to serve his clients for many years to come, Hellman is a Certified Specialist in Taxation Law by the California Board of Legal Specialization, a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law by the California Board of Legal Specialization, a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California and an Accredited Estate Planner.

    Hellman has been a publicly elected member of the Marin County Board of Education for sixteen years. He is a Rotarian, being a charter member of the Rotary Club of Mission San Rafael since its formation in 1972, and he is a Rotary District 5150 Grants Subcommittee Chair. He currently serves the Marin Council Boy Scouts of America as Chair of its Trusts Funds, Assistant Treasurer, Executive Committee Member and Board Member. Throughout his career he has served as President and has held other Board positions for civic and business organizations. When David isn't busy working or volunteering his time, he enjoys model railroading and gardening.
