  • Edison, NJ (1888PressRelease) July 09, 2011 - Darryl Matthew Fosbrook, K-4 Science Specialist Teacher at MacAfee Road Elementary School, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Darryl Matthew Fosbrook's commitment to excellence in Education.

Fosbrook, who holds a BS in Agricultural Science and Ornamental Horticulture from Delaware Valley College, an MS in Curriculum and Instruction from Kean University, and an EdD in Curriculum and Instruction from Nova Southeastern University, began teaching in 1990 after ending a long career in the agricultural industry as an ornamental horticulturalist.

In his current role, Fosbrook teaches the science program to grades kindergarten through fourth grade and runs a lab program for the students of the school. He takes care of all the animals in the lab, what he calls 'critters', and oversees the school greenhouse and the gardens. He also writes the curriculum with the other teachers to keep up with current science education and is responsible for the school's Science Expo, which is held annually and features the students' science work.

Having a love and passion for his teaching career, Fosbrook said, "I am always willing to go the extra step for my students and my colleagues. I believe that my professionalism keeps me moving forward as does my involvement in the various educational associations that I belong to."

Hoping to continue teaching and writing curriculum for the program, Fosbrook plans to write a second grant that would allow for solar panels to run the electric for the school greenhouse (the first grant was for the 20x40 greenhouse). He'd also like to write and publish a book on science education and curriculum. He has written numerous teaching modules for the Business Education Partnership as well as the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Agency, and he continues to present programs to educators on science topics. In 2006,
Fosbrook went to Russia with a group and presented a program on the Environment and the ocean.

Fosbrook is a member of the New Jersey Science Teachers Association, National Science Teachers Association, New Jersey Education Association, National Education Association and the New Jersey Florist Association. When Darryl isn't busy working, he enjoys gardening, reading and cooking.
