  • Dallas, TX (1888PressRelease) November 06, 2010 - Christi Chambers Wren, Academic Advisor for the School of Fashion Design, Art Institute of Dallas, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry.

Wren, who holds a BS in clothing design and textiles from Texas Women's University, has been working in the field since 1979 after graduation. Upon completing her degree, she became employed in apparel design for five years and later began teaching her craft at the college level after the birth of her oldest child.

As lead instructor, Wren teaches a full-time load, assists other department instructors in class planning, advises and registers students, plans and implements new curriculum, works student orientation and open houses, and sits on numerous committees. She also acts as internship coordinator, plans and executes a student fashion show four times a year, directs the development of the department newsletter, and organizes and chaperones an annual New York Study Tour. "I feel a huge amount of commitment toward my students and their ultimate success," Wren said. "I want to make a difference in their lives. That is the real passion that drives me."

Wren's involvement with the local industry through internship coordination, field trips, and participation in industry related organizations, have all brought attention and opportunity to the school's fashion design program. So long as she has the opportunity each day to work with students that are creatively inspired, she plans to stay right where she is, and will feel content and motivated in doing so.

A member of numerous organizations, including the Fashion Group International, founding board member of the Dallas Fashion Incubator, which is now Texas Next Top Designer, National Home Economics Honor Society, and Phi Epsilon Omicron/Beta Zeta, Wren is also on the leadership council for the Starlight Children's Foundation since 2007. She donates to numerous charities, including the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) volunteers weekly at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. In her spare time, Christi enjoys quilting, sewing, reading, and spending time with her family.
