  • (1888PressRelease) September 11, 2013 - Taipei, Taiwan - Billion Electric Co. Ltd. (Taiex: 3027, trading as BILLION), a leading supplier in network communication and energy management solutions, announced its new LCMS (Intelligent Lighting Control and Management System) to aim at ESCO and lighting operators in response to the global trend of energy saving and carbon reduction. The system is ideal for the middle-sized and large-sized lighting environments, including street lights, parking lot, warehouse, or public lights by providing advanced control and monitoring functionalities, lower implement cost, and fast pay-back period.

Billion's LCMS is an intelligent lighting control and management system which employs PLC (Power Line Communication) and RF technologies. Differentiated from other competitive solutions in the market, it can be applied to more than 90% of commercial and public lighting environment, including mercury vapor lamps, high pressure sodium (HPS), LED lights, or even basic T5, HID, CDM and other lamps that are used in the parking lot, warehouse and playground. When the server and powerline network are connected remotely, the administrators can manually or automatically adjust the output of each lamp by means of its intelligent real-time monitoring and control function under different demands on time zone and brightness.

In the real cases, Billion's LCMS advanced dimming function can improve 25% to 35% of the energy-saving efficiency when applied to HPS or LED system. Moreover, it can bring in an additional 25%~30% of the energy-saving result by using the LCMS system collocated with electronic ballast or high efficiency dimmable power sources, compared with traditional core-coil ballast type. Billion clients have implemented this system into their mercury lamp field site by replacing dimmable HPS. The total accumulated energy-saving efficiency will reach up to 60%.

The LCMS can also assist clients to achieve the best business plan and financial plan. This solution can extend the life cycle of lightings about 30%, saving a lot of manpower in inspection maintenance. Its advanced monitoring capabilities will meet ESCO specification energy measurement and verification of M&V method (Measurement and Verification; M&V).

"Billion's new LCMS is a highly flexible and highly available solution that can be directly applied to existing lighting place or lighting place with LED lamps, reaching to a maximum of 60% of energy saving," said Bill Chiou, Director of Billion Electric. "In response to the dynamic change on the lighting applications in the marketplace, Billion devotes itself to deliver innovative products that meet customers' different needs. The system constantly provides the ESCO and lighting operators with greener and more energy-saving lighting solution. The system possesses the merit of low pay back period. It is estimated that the overall ROI (Return on Investment; ROI) of the current implementation case is about 2.5 years to 4.5 years.

Billion's lighting solution package includes standalone or cloud-version LCMS software, Echelon SmartServer, powerline transmitting server, and lighting control box which can assist dual transmission and record power consumption status. The clients can also select suitable powerline communication (PLC) couplers under different circumstances. Moreover, the clients can choose dimmable power supply or ballast in demand of different light needs.
