  • (1888PressRelease) August 05, 2010 - Petitude Online Pet Store, Australia's FUN and VALUE online pet store selling wide range of pet products like dog clothes, dog shoes, pet stroller, dog kennels, cat trees scratch post and rabbit hutches, this week launches a special campaign to help Dog Rescue Newcastle raise funds for a local dog named Elly.

Elly is a tiny Shih Tzu, approximately six years old. She spent two weeks in a pound in the middle of winter, in a concrete enclosure with no heating or bedding. She shared her cage with several other small dogs and there were only two trampoline style beds for all of them. Being very timid and frightened, she must have spent all her time cowering in a corner on the cold ground.

After Dog Rescue Newcastle rescued Elly from the pound, her vet check revealed that she needed surgery to repair the kneecaps on both of her back legs. Poor Elly must have been in pain all her life. She was put on pain medication and scheduled her surgery for as soon as possible. Her surgery will cost approximately $1,000, which is a big bite out of the organisation's limited funds. Petitude volunteered to help Dog Rescue Newcastle do fundraising to cover this cost.

Petitude released a special issue of its bimonthly newsletter for this purpose and encouraged its customers and subscribers to help raise funds for Elly's operation. The online pet store also created a special coupon code 4ELLY and will donate 15% of the sales to the dog rescue organisation for this purpose. As a token of appreciation, Petitude will also send a special gift to those who will purchase using the coupon code. In only two days, the company received several emails about pledges and donations.

Petitude posts updates of this campaign on its official blog, Twitter account, and Facebook page. In Petitude's Facebook page, Dog Rescue Newcastle's representative posted: "We love you Petitude!!! Your newsletter especially devoted to helping Elly has been a tremendous help..."

This fund raising campaign will run until the 16th of August and Petitude encourages everyone to do their share to help. Please visit http://blog.petitude.com.au/please-help-us-help-elly/ to know more about Elly and for more information on what you can do to help.

Petitude's Shop for a Cause campaign is still ongoing. Besides the 4ELLY campaign, Petitude and its community have also sent monetary donations and pet products to Dog Rescue Newcastle. Petitude also helps disseminate pet care and pet adoption information by publishing articles on its Official Blog. For five months now, Petitude has been featuring dogs and cats available for adoption on its newsletters, and this effort has already helped several homeless animals find permanent homes and loving family.
