  • Dallas, TX (1888PressRelease) September 16, 2010 - AUSTIN, Texas - Attorney Geoffrey D. Weisbart, a founding partner of the Austin firm of Hance Scarborough, has been named to the list of Texas Super Lawyers for the seventh consecutive year. Fewer than 5 percent of all Texas attorneys are named to the annual list, which is published in the October 2010 issue of Texas Monthly and Texas Super Lawyers magazines.

Researchers reviewed nominations from a pool of more than 70,000 eligible Texas attorneys while Texas Super Lawyers editors consulted with a blue-ribbon panel of lawyers to finalize the selections in each practice area.

"Regardless of how many times you receive this honor, it's very fulfilling," says Mr. Weisbart. "It indicates a great deal of awareness and respect among our peers and colleagues in the profession."

Mr. Weisbart is a fixture in the Austin legal community, having represented clients in Texas' capitol city and throughout the nation for nearly 25 years. His recent successful representation of a group of class-action plaintiffs in a major gender-discrimination lawsuit against computer powerhouse Dell Inc. was the subject of news reports in Texas and throughout the U.S.

During numerous jury and non-jury trials, Mr. Weisbart has represented defendants and plaintiffs in cases involving a wide range of business disputes, employment matters and administrative issues. His experience also includes successful appeals before the Supreme Court of Texas, United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and various Texas state courts of appeal. A former licensed airplane pilot, he also provides clients with extensive expertise in aviation law, from courtroom litigation to purchases and sales.

Mr. Weisbart, a member of the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates, is active in the Austin Bar Association and was named Outstanding Committee Chair for the Endangered Jury Trial Committee for 2005-2006. He also served as the vice chairman of the Travis County Litigation Section and as a director and chairman of the Travis County Employment Law Section.
