  • Miami, FL (1888PressRelease) August 13, 2013 - Art Deco Weekend (ADW) moves forward into the past with "The Antique Experience at Art Deco Weekend." For 2014, the famous Ocean Drive event returns to its celebration of the "modern" art, antiques and architecture that exploded worldwide in the '20s and '30s and today gives Miami Beach its unique backdrop for all things fun and fabulous.

ADW takes place January 17-19, 2014. Count on the films and fashion, live music and lectures, vendors and visuals, parades and preservation that set this street fair apart from any other. But this year the buzz is on "The Antique Experience," a stylized garden flanked by 90-by-40-foot tents filled with antique and vintage furniture, objects and clothing.

Located under the sea grape trees in Lummus Park between Ocean Drive and the beach, the garden will showcase Art Deco sculptures and outdoor furniture. Live jazz and Big Band music will play and Art-Deco-inspired films -think "Great Gatsby" and "Chicago"-will be shown.

The tents will house antiques brought together by esteemed purveyors of the world's finest and funnest antiques, Modernism.com and The Original Miami Beach Antique Show. Both are longtime associates of ADW, but this year they are partnering in the event. For 300,000 attendees and serious collectors, it's a match made in heaven.

Modernism.com has been selling antiques online longer than anyone else in the business. ADW 2014 is a chance for buyers to see and touch hundreds of online pieces in real life. (Insider's tip: Check out the interior of the Pelican Hotel on Ocean Drive, furnished entirely through Modernism.com.)

The Original Miami Beach Antique Show draws nearly 1,000 dealers and 20,000 attendees to the Miami Beach Convention Center every winter. With tickets already selling for their Jan. 30-Feb. 3 show, The Antique Experience at Art Deco Weekend promises a sneak peek.

Whether you are a dealer, an antiquarian, a collector, a philanthropist, an Art Decophile, a historian, a business that supports the arts or any organization that wants to co-host South Florida's most popular winter weekend, there is a place for you at the 37th Annual Art Deco Weekend. Join the Miami Design Preservation League. Present your music, fashion, lecture or gala. Be a sponsor, be a volunteer, be a part of history. Call 305-672-2014. Visit www.artdecoweekend.com
