  • (1888PressRelease) July 07, 2010 - Application Security, Inc., the leading provider of database security, risk and compliance (SRC) solutions for the enterprise, today announced that its Web film series "The UnProtected" has been selected as a finalist by the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) for the NextTV Competition. "The UnProtected" is one of three finalists selected in the Branded Entertainment category.

In the five-part Webisodic series, AppSec's "The UnProtected" highlights real world database security, risk and compliance issues that enterprise organizations face every day. "The UnProtected" tells the story of Greencrest Financial, a financial services firm that must achieve compliance by the end of the quarter. Unfortunately, not only is Greencrest failing its audit, but to make matters worse, the firm's credit card table is suddenly hacked, compromising tens of thousands of sensitive customer records.

"'The Unprotected' was selected as a NextTV finalist by NATPE's panel of industry judges based on creativity, innovation, relationship to category, and overall execution, said Jack Sullivan, new media producer / Web content manager, NATPE. "We had over 75 entries in each category, and believe the top three finalists in each category are representative of the "best of the best" in web content being produced today."

"It's quite an honor to have "The UnProtected" selected as a finalist in the Branded Content category," said Thom VanHorn, vice president of global marketing, AppSec. "We had a lot of fun writing and producing the Web series, but more importantly it gave AppSec the opportunity to convey the importance of database security, risk, and compliance in a way that is fun, easy to understand, and valuable to our customers and prospects."

"The UnProtected" was written by Aaron F. Schnore and was directed by Jorge Rivera, both long-time AppSec employees.

Winners of the Next TV Competition will be announced at LATV Fest on July 14, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles at 6:30 p.m. "The UnProtected" can be viewed online at www.theunprotected.net.
