    WITI 's (Women In Technology International) South Florida Network honored the recipients of the 1st Annual WITI 'Women to Watch' Awards on November 11, 2010 at the Tower Club in Fort Lauderdale.

    Regional Director Jackye Clayton stated, "This is an exciting moment for WITI. These are our unsung heroes of technology!"

    Carolyn Leighton, WITI Founder and Chairwoman, explains, "Historically, too many notable achievements by women have gone unrecognized. WITI was founded to provide a platform to recognize women whose contributions to technology and science and commitment to advancing women can be celebrated and recorded. WITI Networks are an extension of these endeavors and serve to honor and connect women directly in their local communities."

    This year's honorees included:

    Edie Olmedo Director, Q.A., I.T. Security & Compliance - World Fuel Services Leading by example, she is a results-driven professional with extensive "hands-on" Director.

    She has successfully mentored and employed over 45 consultants in the area of Quality Assurance, with about 35 of them continuing to grow in the QA space and becoming VPs and Senior Management contributors in their fields. Recently, she developed Mentoring 101 training at WFS meant to serve as a foundation/model on how to be a mentor within a team.

    Deana Pizzo CEO -I.T. Solutions of South Florida
    Deana leads her company with passion from the heart. She is the CEO of my company, a wife, and a mother of 2 elementary aged children. She skillfully manages to "steer the boat" at work, and make every effort to guide her children's development into the best young Christian leaders they can be.

    And while doing my PhD and Masters she developed image processing algorithms for texture segmentation of medical images to detect cancer. She spent a significant amount of time with Radiologists learning to read mammograms, and later developed algorithms and wrote software to automatically interpret mammograms for the purpose of providing a second opinion to radiologists.
