An entertaining celebration and revival of the early ‘80s music scene

    About the Book:
Is there a place in our hearts or a second chance for those on the periphery of fame; for those who burned in a blaze of short-lived glory, then fizzled out like a fart on the breeze?

There once was a band that emerged from humble origins to almost compete with the best; then disappeared without trace or fanfare. In touching distance of celebrity and acclaim, then gone; forever?

Follow Bill, Tom, Clive and Ray as they emerge from the shadows of their past; meet ex Hell’s Angel, Gabriel, and Russian reggae’s ambassador, Ras Putin; reminisce about the antics of former drummer, Stan, God rest his soul; and solve the mystery of the enigmatic lady who inhabits their best-known song.

This is the Resurrection of Skinny Ted and the Brothel Creepers!!

'Skinny Ted' is one of those books which took me through a wealth of emotions. It captures the underground music scene of the 1980's with the kind of precision which only someone who lived and experienced it could whip up in text. This is contrasted brilliantly with the shallow, instant-gratification ear-candy world which inhabits our ears today.

Having said this, 'Skinny Ted' is a book which made me laugh out loud on many occasions. It celebrates the at-times farcical nature of the entertainment industry and the story is a celebration of this. There are moments which are truly moving as well, as a man in his middle years faces up to the harder realities of that period of his life and seeks meaning. I feel that it is a tale where the central character reclaims his identity and self-worth. It also has a thread of mystery which is resolved with number of startling twists at the book's close. This would make a fantastic gift for anyone who loves music, has played in a band or has a sense of nostalgia for yesteryear. I hugely enjoyed this book.

"The Resurrection of Skinny Ted & the Brothel Keepers" is an apt title for this book which is an entertaining rollercoaster ride of rock & roll. It accurately reflects the indy, eclectic 80's music scene and takes me back to those cherished years.

The characterisation is excellent, as the main protagonist searches for meaning and grounding through his challenging mid-life crisis, which many of us can identify with.

It reminded me of the novel and subsequent movie "The Commitments", and I found it very nostalgic.

The author obviously knows the entertainment industry.
