    About “The Godfather’s Vow”:
Anthony is a 3rd generation Mafia Boss. He inherited the job. He hated the job. He was determined that the association would end with him. His only son, Frank, would not be lumbered with a life of organised crime nor the fear of violent retribution that goes with it. He extracted from Frank a vow that he would never join the mafia and when the boy graduated from high school, he sent him to England to further his education and become and English gentleman. Seven years later, Frank had just completed his MBA when he receives the news that Anthony had been assassinated. His Sicilian genes screamed for vengeance and conflicted with the solemn promise he had made his father.

    Could he keep his vow?

Conflict also governed his love life. In England, he got involved with Emma, refined, erudite, the daughter of a manor aristocrat. At the same time, he got involve with Maria, who could only be described as a fishwife, crude, fiery, the daughter of a New York Mafia don.

He loved Emma. He lusted Maria.

    Excerpt from the book:

“When you were born, I made a vow to your mother that our association with the Mafia would end with me. My father told me what I got to do. No questions. No answers. Just do it. And I’m going to tell you what to do. No questions. No answers. You just are going to do it. I am going to take you away from the neighbourhood. Away from the district. Away from New York. I’m sending you to little old England. You will become an English gentleman. And you’re going to go to a fancy college, a University, where you will learn something useful, like making money. Those guys screw the world while everyone loves them. And live to a ripe old age. That’s what you’re going to do.”
I opened my mouth to speak, but he stabbed the stogie in my direction.

“We’re not done yet. You are going to make me a promise, take a vow, that you will never join the Mafia.”
He gave me the look. My mouth snapped shut tight.
He relaxed, sat back, fingers knit across his belly. Took a puff of his cigar. “When my grandfather retired we used to sit in the garden eating grapes. He used to tell me stories about the old days in Sicily and about bootlegging during Prohibition in America with that cocksucker Joe Kennedy. I idolised him. I was looking forward to joining the Mafia. To succeeding my father as the Godfather.”

The expression on my father’s face changed. Wreathed in smoke. It became demonic. Intense. His black eyes blazing. I had never seen him like this before. I was scared. I just nodded.

“I want to hear you say it.”
    “What?”
“Don’t play dumb with me, Francis!” He slammed the desk causing me to jump.
“Okay, okay,” I mumbled. “I make a solemn vow that I will never join the Mafia.”
He cupped his hand over his ear theatrically. “Louder, paisan.”
“I make a solemn vow that I will never join the Mafia!” I yelled.
    He smiled. “That’s my boy.”
And I knew in that moment that everything had changed forever.
