"Heroin" Drug-Education Seminar Introduced to the Local Community

  • (1888PressRelease) November 06, 2015 - CLEARWATER, Fla. - The seminar introduced members of the Clearwater community to the Truth About Drugs program and its new center that opened on July 11th, 2015. The pre-event reception was hosted at the Scientology Public Information Center at 500 Cleveland Street where the guests were treated to hors d'ouvres and availed themselves of information about the church.

    This seminar focused on the drug "heroin" using the Drug-Free World Educator kit for information on the short-term and long-term effects of the drug and also gave an overview of the Truth About Drugs program.

    Guests in attendance were provided with their own copy of the Educator's kit and educational materials. Complementary educational booklets were provided to share with at-risk, underprivileged youth in the local area. Attendees included a substance abuse counselor from Kissimmee, Florida, a Tampa-Bay area youth mentor, a local charity advocate and local residents all interested in learning how to educate youth with the Drug Free World Educator Kit. The seminar was summed up by one guest who stated, "I am really happy I came, and I'm glad there are organizations such as this one doing something effective about drug education for youth".

    The Truth About Drugs program is the largest non-profit, non-governmental anti-drug initiative on Earth. It is active in 188 countries and partners with 1,200 groups and organizations across the world. The program empowers youth and adults with factual information about drugs and invites them to make their own decisions to live drug-free.

    The Florida headquarters is located at 41 North Fort Harrison Ave, Clearwater Florida 33755, open to the public from 10 am to 10 pm daily.

    The center offers interactive displays, materials on the Drug-Free world program, including award-winning Public Service Announcements, and regular drug-education seminars for youth, parents, educators, and law-enforcement officials in the community.

    The Church of Scientology supports the Drug-Free World supporting the statement from Scientology's founder, L. Ron Hubbard where he said, "The single most destructive element in these societies today is drugs".

    Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign, observed each October in the United States. The campaign was launched in 1985 in memory of Drug Enforcement Administration special agent, Enrique Camarena who exposed a multi-million dollar narcotics manufacturing operation in Mexico.
