  • (1888PressRelease) May 12, 2017 - The European Tour of "Il Re Cervo" starts on Sunday 14th May, in Galati, Romania. It is a work in three acts composed by the Italian musician Angelo Inglese. The show will be performed at The Nae Leonard Theatre at 6 pm.

The tour will continue in Avignon, France, with two other performances on the 23rd and 24th of May. Furthermore, the show will see the last two replicas at the end of the month at Legnano (Milan) on the 27th and 28th respectively.

The work is a tragicomic story from the popular folk tradition and is part of Carlo Gozzi's theatrical fairies, an antagonist of Carlo Goldoni.

    Plot
Deramo, King of Serendipo, is looking for a bride and submits all the girls of the kingdom to a test. After several attempts, he finds Angela, daughter of Minister Pantalone.

The king decides to marry her, sparking the fury of Tartaglia, Prime Minister, in turn in love with Angela. During a hunt in which the whole court takes part, Tartaglia's ambition, wickedness and jealousy push him to assassinate the king. A magic reincarnates the spirit of the killed king in the body of a deer, while the spirit of Tartaglia takes possession of the body of King Deramo.

With the same magic, Deramo takes advantage of the death of an old man killed by Tartaglia to assume its appearance, abandoning the remains of the dead deer. Angela recognises in the old man that the real king Deramo has come to court and together they prepare for revenge.

Angela asks Tartaglia to check out the effects of a magic formula he claims to know, but Tartaglia wants at all costs to marry her. The old man (Deramo) intervenes to save her. Tartaglia tries to kill him, but with a magic King Deramo resumes his true looks, forcing Tartaglia to take over those of the old man. The room opens for magic and, in front of everyone, Tartaglia invokes forgiveness, and Deramo will finally marry Angela.
