  • New Orleans, LA (1888PressRelease) June 28, 2011 - Launch Event at Le Roux's Supper Club, 1700 Louisiana Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana, June 30, 2011, 7pm-10pm. Ellen Allen is using her moment of accomplishment to acknowledge the contributions of Armstrong Family Services. Ellen Allen, an outstanding and outspoken talent gets inspiration from her nurturing ways as a mother, wife and friend; she is fervent about writing. Ellen was born in New Orleans, Louisiana where she attended public school and excelled in literature and reading leaving her with a passion for self expression. As an only child, she was doted on by a wonderful mother who fueled her creative writing. She attributes the time she and her mother spent together living, learning, and loving as her earthly foundation. For as long as her family can remember she has possessed an imagination way bigger than herself. This delightfully charming lady has written about life, death, love and pain. Her current work with Your Time Publishing is fiction but she has works in many genres.

Author Ellen Allen's, "If you Change the Words you Change the MEANING" is about the struggles of co-dependency. As she's explored this subject she's found that many of our addictions may be rooted in co-dependency and co-dependency may be rooted in addiction. There are many types of addiction said Ellen: food addictions, gambling addictions, the most popular today sex addictions and more. This is Ellen's debut novel. She hopes that if one sees themselves in this quasi fictional novel that one will recognize the need for change. The story is poignant and judicious in this day with the failure of the war on drugs. "We need to find a better way to address addiction and also work with the loved ones of those addicted so that they can all learn to help themselves" said Ms. Allen.

Armstrong Family Services is dedicated to keeping families together. We provide emergency housing, case management, and mentoring services to families in crisis in the New Orleans area.

Armstrong Family Services ("AFS"), a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization named in honor of Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong, was established in 1996. AFS joined UNITY for the Homeless to strengthen its program in the areas of case management, resources, and consultation. Our affiliation with UNITY allows us to collaborate with 72 recognized service providers. We have as our goal the empowerment of families experiencing homelessness, by keeping them together and helping them to free themselves economically from public assistance and other dependencies through personal growth and economic development. We believe a family should be able to provide social, emotional and economic support to its members regardless of the family configuration.

Come out and celebrate with author Ellen Allen on Thursday June 30, 2011, 1700 Le Roux's on Louisiana Avenue where a portion of the proceeds will benefit Armstrong Family Services.
