  • (1888PressRelease) August 29, 2012 - The Blue Mountains, Ont. - From August 8 - 12, 2012, some of Ontario's top riders competed at Cedar Run Horse Park's Blue Mountain Celebration, an event that culminated in a series of three prestigious hunter/jumper gold-level horse shows.

The big winners of the event included: Ryan Roy of King City, Ont., the winner of the $10,000 Canadian Hunter Derby riding Bayridge owned by Corie Bannister; Carly Fairly of Stouffville, Ont., riding her horse, Waldo D'Aubrac, who took home $5,000 at the Open Hunter Classic; and Hyde Moffatt of Waterloo, Ont., who won the $5,000 Thoroughbred Hunter Classic Series riding Soul Seeker owned by Megan Landsborough of Burlington, Ont.

Despite rainy weather, competitors, trainers and owners were happy with how the event turned out.

"Footing held up beautifully in the rain and the park management was more than accommodating," said Wayne McLellan, owner and trainer of WGM Stable in Shomberg Ont.

Week's highlights included the Horseless Rider Horse Relay which attracted participation from riders to parents to trainers and the ever popular Grooms Class a fun attraction in the Grand Prix Ring restricted to grooms only.

Said Hyde Moffat, a freelance trainer from King City, "I have participated in many shows in North America, and in my opinion, Cedar Run has the best hunter footing I have seen in Ontario."
