WIFF Announces "Pitch Miami" Filmmakers compete to win $5000 towards their Miami based film

  • Miami, FL (1888PressRelease) February 20, 2012 - The competition will take place during the 7th Annual Women's International Film & Arts Festival, March 28-April 1, 2012. Ten lucky finalists will have 5 minutes to present their idea to a panel of investors, industry representatives and a live audience. The winner will be announced that day. The film ideas can be of any genre but must be shot in Miami and have a woman play a major role in the production of the film (director, producer, screenwriter, etc.)

    "We are so excited about our Pitch Miami project. It serves to develop our local film industry and economy while providing opportunities for women in film," said Yvonne McCormack-Lyons, WIFF president and founder also known as Film Fest Diva. "The Pitch Miami concept really falls in line with our mission to empower women artists and increase the number of women in the film industry," she added.

    Pitch Miami and the Women's International Film Festival will be showcased in the first-ever Miami Film Month promotion organized by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau.
    The Miami Downtown Development Authority and the Miami Community Redevelopment Agency are also partners in Pitch Miami.
