Whole Food Market's 5% Community Giving Day raises over $20,000 for Joshua's Heart Foundation
August was a great month for philanthropy; In just 1 day, Whole Food Markets throughout Miami outpaced itself to contribute over $20,000 to Joshua's Heart Foundation. A non-profit whose mission is to Stomp Out World Hunger by feeding the needy.

Whole Foods Market's (WFM) Miami-Dade County stores pooled their fundraising efforts and raised over $20,000 for Joshua's Heart Foundation (JHF) during their 5% Community Giving Day on Friday, August 17, 2012. In an unprecedented spirit of giving, the Pinecrest, Coral Gables, South Beach, and Aventura stores all stepped up to the plate to support the mission to "Stomp Out Hunger".
The Foundation is best known for their 11 year old founder, Joshua Williams, who believes that neither child, nor their family should be left hungry. Joshua's Heart has worked tirelessly with Whole Foods Market since 2009 to bring food to communities throughout South Florida and feed the homeless and the hungry, all because of the vision and the heart of a child named Joshua. He has so instilled a spirit of giving back in everyone he touches that he has won the hearts of the WFM Team Members, and they had this to say about this wonderful experience.
"Joshua and his mission to stomp out hunger provide constant inspiration to me and our team members. He reminds us that one person, no matter how small, can make a difference," Macarena Luz Bianchi, Community Relations Team Leader at Whole Foods Market in South Beach.- raised over $5,000.
"By simply stocking up on their regular groceries, our customers were able to reach the thousands of families throughout Miami that are forced to depend on the generosity of others to have a simple meal. Joshua is an inspiration for our customers and team members alike, who realize that we all can make an immediate impact on hunger, no matter our age or experience." - Vanessa Hassele, Community Relations Team Leader at Whole Foods Market in Aventura - raised over $7,000.

Joshua's Heart has distributed over 400,000 lbs of food since opening its doors and continues to expand its efforts to feed families in need.
