  • St. Louis, MO-IL (1888PressRelease) June 04, 2011 - The worlds largest freshwater dive resort only 60 minutes south of St. Louis, Missouri, Bonne Terre Mine is once again holding the worlds largest treasure dive. The treasure dives participants, all SCUBA divers will be diving to find treasure. The treasure which is valued at over $30,000 consisting of trips, SCUBA equipment and accessories along with many other items will be given away on Saturday, June 4, 2010.

    The first group of participants will begin diving at 8:00 AM and the last dive will go in at 5:00 PM. All divers must be registered in advance to participate. Attendance is expected to be in excess of 200 people, with many more visiting Bonne Terre Mine wishing to walk or take the boat tour back into time in the mines virtual time capsule. Walking and boat tours begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday.

    Bonne Terre Mine was discovered by Doug and Catherine Goergens owners of West End Diving in 1978. They had a vision and after obtaining the rights to the mine they developed it into a haven for SCUBA divers. The mine with its billion gallon lake is the largest subterranean lake known to man with over 26 miles of navigable shore line.

    West End Diving's Bonne Terre Mine has been featured through the years by the like of the world famous Jacques Cousteau, National Geographic Magazine, People Magazine, Discover Channel, History Channel and many more.

    Thousands of divers and non divers alike have toured the mine and journeyed through its history both above and underwater.
