  • (1888PressRelease) September 24, 2010 - Radio theatre is experiencing something of resurgence, thanks to people like Bill Kates, a 30 year veteran of the voice over industry. Kates comes from a storied background, having worked in radio imaging, production, and sound design for major market radio; from underground FM to Howard Stern's flagship station to years of satellite radio.

Through his years in radio, theatre, film and television, Kates has always maintained a passion for radio theatre, and has been producing and performing in radio theatre productions since the late 70's. With the advent of on-line radio, radio theatre is streaming to a different kind of audience and new generations are getting in on the drama.

"Radio theatre engages the imagination of the listener personally and directly, and actually can have a stronger emotional resonance than film or TV, because one makes the pictures in his or her own head. It's an ideal form for long car trips, or for any time you'd be listening to an audiobook." Kates explains, "Anyone who starts to explore radio theatre from, the 'Golden Age' classics of the 1930s-50s, to the modern masters of the practice, realizes what a blast it is... it's just a matter of spreading the word about it."

Recently Kates completed a series of ten 'mini' radio plays by the author Ziv Navoth called "Nanotales" that will be launched on a special website coming soon.
